Steampunk Jewelry ....My First Ever Piece!!

I fell in love with steampunk a while back  and have wanted to start creating it for so long.Last night I bit the bullet and just went for it. I love how it came out ,some might not like the style  but I create what I love for myself . I made this piece with some new and old broken pieces. No Val., the cogs and wheels are mine ,lol.
I got the wings off a star cross thing from Walmart . I had went shopping and got these this weekend. The hanger was a broken cross necklace.Watch face was from a  man's old  watch. The cogs I got off Etsy (sorry shop owner I for got the name..) The tiny watch parts are from Esty shop Time and Materials ( visit her shop at  www.timeandmaterialsetsy.com)

The chain was from purses that I recycled the  hard wear on. Other pieces are just from watch guts( as I call them) . I uses E-6000 glue to hold it all together. It takes a while to dry but when it does it is very strong.  I love the way it looks and am excited to make something else. I have changed my view on old vcr, dvd tv and other things when they break. Now I can't wait to take them apart to see what things I can make with them! Give steampunk a try you never know , it might  worm it's way into your heart and inspire you to look at 'junk' in  a new light. Recycling has never been thins much fun!
As always

Pinched Nerve, Java Computer Virus,CD/DVD Broke and.......Lost Things

The old saying , " If it can go wrong it will'.  It has been a while between post never the less I will learn to deal with life little surprises.   It seems I have pinched my right shoulder nerve (I am right handed) and have had to learn to move with out moving that shoulder (yea right  like I can not move my arm ,pff , I forget all the time and the pain reminds me all the time) and carry on with the things I love to do.  I have used a total of 2 deep heat blue muscle rub and about 5 gloves that I have  discovered will start to melt down with the repeated use of deep heat  (who knew?)   Not long after that I got another surprise, Java Sun (not sure the exact name ) has been stolen (just the download logo thing) and is now that  hateful Windows defender virus, grr I hate the people that made that virus. It seems they get sneakier every day. The shame of it is that I KNOW the virus and I have had to get rid of it numerous times from my daughters laptops.   I have had it one time and I knew what it was . But Java ask me to update all the time and like good LCU(laptop computer users ) we know when it is real and when it is not ....well mabe not. I got that virus and I knew what it was . But my laptop has a broken DVD/CD drive (hp DID NOT replace it as they said ,just waited till my warranty gave out)      and to get this virus ,that blokes net until you ' buy ' it (don't buy it it is a VIRUS!!!!), off I must recovery or restore.Restoring to a date seems to be broken on my laptop (another great thing to thank hp for) and the recovery/restore to factory settings don't work on my laptop either. I HAVE TO RESTORE BACK TO FACTORY SETTINGS. I don 't mind this as I have a external hard drive of my important things and can just reload programs as I need them. But I can not use the disk . MY DVD/CD IS BROKEN (makes me want to pull my hair out .) I have an external dvd/cd player but for some reason it will only play cd.If any of you are familiar with hp  restore cd ,you know they no longer put it on cd but dvd there for I can not use my external drive.
So you are getting the picture here? From 4am to 2 pm I worked on this problem . Luckily my best friend , Valerey , has a nice dvd/cd drive . And better luck she lives across the road from me( I mean across the road ,right in from of my house,we can shout at each other) I was able to restore using her drive, it took hours to complete this and it was maddening.  Now after all this I was in the mood to do some crafting and sat down ,put a movie in  and.......wait where are the things I need for this craft? Lost things are mysterious. They have a secret life and sometimes decide to never come home, choosing to live in that fascinating place they visited ofter . Either that or the kid under the house(what I say when the girls say they didn't have it ,or didn't do it.I tell them it must have been the kid under the house) has it.. I don't know but I think I am finally old !
But I will push on and adapt to the things I can not change .........................I am thinking a voice program might be in order to help with typing, never downloading a pop up update for ANYTHING on my computer , buying a good external dvd/cd drive and writing a inventory /storage book for lost tings
WOW!! What a few weeks I have had!!  I will close this post with the same thing I always say and smile while I Painfully type it.

Tim Holtz idea-ology Journal Tutorial

I love to have journals, paper even scrap mail envelopes to scribble thoughts down or to write something down that I don't want to forget. Making it personal by using scrapbook paper, ribbon, and grungy, sparkly paints, adds character to my books. This tut will show you how I turn a Mead black and white splotchy notebook into a journal that reflects my personality. It is easy and is not very much money to do. If you don't scrapbook there are plenty of free downloadable paper online. The only thing is (at least to me) that the paper needs to be stronger that regular paper. But some printers have the ability to print on stock paper. The other way is to go to your local dollar stores and usually they will have some scrapbook paper there at a good price .Just look around and you will notice that scrapbooking is about to take over the world!
This tut is in pdf form and you are free to print download copy and post it online. I just ask credit given and a link back to me. Click the link below to go to the pdf file.
